Nelson was an absolute scoring machine for the Tommies this week. Nelson averaged 21.7 points per game during the Tommies 3 games this week, topped off by 29 points against Fordham. Nelson didn’t just score the basketball this week. The senior guard also averaged 4.3 rebounds, and 4 assists also. Nelson has been a key piece to the Tommies surprising start.

In an incredibly close battle, Nero is our junior of the week. The award is well deserved. Nero averaged 16.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists this week. Nero did just a little bit of everything for the Fighting Hawks this week. Oh and we forgot to mention that those numbers also included the game-winning shot in a big win against Montana.

The good news for Jackrabbit and Summit League fans is it seems that Freidel is back. After missing the second half of last season, Freidel has come back firing on all cylinders. Last week Freidel averaged 19 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. Freidel also shot a blistering 12 of 24 from behind the arc this week.

There was a lot of excitement among Denver fans and coaching staff about the arrival of Smith. It looks like they might have been correct in their excitement. Smith was the unanimous choice by the voters for freshmen of the week. Smith averaged 9 points and 4.3 rebounds a game this week. Smith also chipped in 3 steals, and 4 blocks this week.

McKinney provided solid perimeter defense all week for the Bison. McKinney was asked to provide even more as starting guard Sam Griesel was out all week following abdominal surgery. The week was topped off by McKinney’s 4 steals against UNLV.
