If you watched the Coyotes game versus Nebraska, you couldn’t help but feel good about where the Yotes game was. They hit their last 3 three’s. They erased an 18 point deficit, they looked every bit as talented as the Huskers.
I could not wait for the next game at Kansas City. A conference foe in a nonconference setting to keep the mojo going. Perhaps grab a road win and head to Sioux Falls with a little pep in the step of the Yotes.
We all know the KC game never happened. Abundance of caution won the matchup. The Yotes drove home and now we await a pretty cool event in Sioux Falls consisting of the four Dakota D1 schools.
For the Yotes, the schedule sure looks a lot like something you could easily envision come March. vs UND, vs NDSU, and vs SDSU.
Does the time off set the Yotes back? Or could it help? Part of me expects a shakeup in the starting lineup come UND. If the Yotes can find the shooting touch particularly from 3, I think South Dakota could raise an eyebrow or two during the 3 day event. Regardless, as much as COVID era basketball has stunk, but this will be a great measure for where these teams are, and what the Summit League Tournament might look like come March (fingers crossed).
