It’s not very often that when a player nets their 1,000 point during a road win that that story line, at least on some level, is the 3rd place finisher in the story line department. But that was the case Thursday afternoon following USD’s 84-68 win over Bradley in Peoria, IL.
Chloe Lamb did indeed score her 1,000 point in the win and ended the game with an impressive 18 point, 5-10 from deep, 6 rebound, 3 assist stat line. But Liv Korngable continued her breakout season with another career best 24 points on 9-11 from the field including 5-6 from three made the case for the headline of the game.
Then there is the line from Hannah Sjerven. 37 minutes (career high), 31 points (career high), 21 rebounds (career high) and also dropped in 4 blocks for good measure.
The preseason Summit Player of the year and Becky Hammon Player of the year candidate looked every bit the part as she dominated both ends of the floor and helped lead the Yotes to the road win and improved record to 3-2.
Bradley stayed within striking distance the majority of the game, but in the end the Coyotes senior trio proved too much to overcome. Freshman Morgan Hansen added some nice minutes off the bench and hit all 3 of her shots from three for 9 points.
Yotes travel to Norman for a game with the Sooners on Sunday. Tip is set for 2pm.
