Junior: This week’s Summit League Junior of the Week goes to a player many may not be too familiar with in Western Illinois’ Cameron Burrell. Burrell who just joined the starting lineup in late January has provided a spark for the Leathernecks team who are now on a 5 game win streak in big part to Burrell’s back-to-back double-doubles this weekend. He finished with 11 points & 13 rebounds Friday and followed it up with 13 points and another 13 rebounds on Saturday. Add in the 15 rebounds in a win last Saturday Burrell has averaged 13.7 rebounds over the last 3 games. The shot 23/43 including 11-19 threes all along with averaging 36 ppg in a split vs South Dakota State. Max is likely the premier scoring guard in the conference at this time. Super fun to watch.

Reserve: Guard Kobey Lam of Denver is this week’s reserve of the week. The sophomore had averaged only 4 points per game coming into this week in limited playing. 7 times this season Lam hasn’t played in a game for Denver. Lam didn’t let that hold him back this weekend. Lam averaged 15.5 points per game and total 4 assists this weekend. His weekend performance likely means more opportunity for Lam this season.

Defense: Men Defense of the week. When you only give up 52 and 47 points in your games this week, you can ink yourself into this award. The Kansas City Roo’s continued their stingy d to a pair of wins over Omaha. I can’t imagine any team’s head coach will sleep well if they see the Roo’s on the line with them come Sioux Falls.
