I have compiled the power rankings every week since the website started. I am not sure I have ever seen a time where the voters were as varied on their selections. So here we go
- South Dakota State: 130 points (13) first-place votes; Last Week (1). 3-0 week with wins against Stephen F Austin and Montana have the voters even more confident about the Jacks
2. Western Illinois: 106 pts; last week (4). 1-1 week. The loss was a close one to Depaul in the Big East has voters high on the Leathernecks this season. At the beginning of last year, many would have laughed if you predicted the Leathernecks ever to be put 2nd in the power rankings.
3. North Dakota State: 105pts; last week (2). 0-2 week. Road losses to UNLV and Arizona have voters hesitant on the Bison this week. Bison fans would likely say voters are overreacting a bit.
4. Kansas City: 83 pts; last week (6). 2-0 week. The road win against Missouri has voters jumping the Roos two spots. Roos have two games next week Kenpom currently predicts them losing. Winning those would prove the voters are onto something.
5. Oral Roberts: 74 pts; last week (3). 1-1 week. The Golden Eagles lost a tough one to a Central Arkansas team that most do not predict to be very good this season. ORU still looking for their first D1 and clearly the voters are concerned.
6. South Dakota: 69 pts; last week (5) 2-1 week. The lopsided loss to Drake must have left a bad taste in the mouths of the voters. The Coyotes bounced back to beat Southern and Tennessee State.
7. North Dakota: 52 pts; last week (9) 2-2 week. Some good and some bad for the Fighting Hawks and it reflects in the ratings. Nice win against Montana and later in the week tough loss to Tennessee Martin.
8. St. Thomas: 41 pts; last week (8) 2-2 week. Interestingly the Tommies stay put, but are starting to slowly put together a resume that shows they belong in division 1 and in the Summit League.
9. Denver: 29 pts; last week (10) 1-2 week. Denver moves from the bottom with their win over IUPUI and a close loss to Texas AM-CC. Denver continues to put together new parts from a revamped roster.
10. Omaha: 16 pts; last week (7) 0-2 week. The lopsided loss to Montana was obviously sticking in the minds of the voters. Omaha gets leapfrogged by St. Thomas, North Dakota, and Denver this week.
