After a tough non conference schedule the South Dakota State women have a solid start to conference play. With their only loss coming on the road to the league’s top team South Dakota, the Jacks are set for a big second half of the season run to conference play.
The Jackrabbits have looked like a much better team throughout conference play with the return of Myah Selland. We have also seen a consistent improvement from Paige Meyer through league play which will be huge going into the remaining games. Peiton Burckhard and Tylee Irwin have also been vital to the Jackrabbits play so far. The team will continue to look to Tori Nelson and Kallie Theisen to keep improving and contributing in order to help build on the momentum.
Off the bench, the Jacks will be looking for more than just Kallie to step up offensively. Lindsey Theuninick and Haleigh Timmer must continue to grow in their role offensively to take the Jacks to the next level.
Looking forward, the Jackrabbits have multiple games they should win to keep them separate from the pack. We saw it last week with the Jacks defeating Omaha and Denver who are in the lower tier of the Summit League. This week the Jacks play against St. Thomas and Western Illinois. Both teams are in the middle of the conference standings and the Jackrabbits could really show they are on a different path than the middle tier with two more wins this week.
If SDSU can come out and have two dominating wins they would be keeping pace with USD , and their chances to have Sunday off in Sioux Falls in the Summit League Tournament.
