The Omaha Mavericks finally found their form offensively against NAIA York University after being consistent and inconsistent when they travelled to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and the Air Force Academy. Omaha faced a really good TCU team playing them tough the first half before going ice cold the second half losing 82-60. Omaha again was consistent and inconsistent at time in the 74-65 loss against North Texas. The Mavs the travelled to the Air Force Academy and played William and Mary, Lindenwood and Air Force. Omaha went 1-2 in these games winning against William and Mary and losing two close and heartbreaking games to Lindenwood and Air Force. The team bus also broke down before they were suppose to play Lindenwood and had to use the William and Mary bus to travel from the team hotel to the basketball arena in Colorado Springs. The same can be said against NAIA school MACU the day before Thanksgiving with the consistencies and inconsistencies in a 76-59 victory.
The game started out with Omaha going red hot and Tony Osburn shooting lights out and even outscoring York 15-6 at one point. Other players for Omaha got in on the action including Nick Davis, Marcel Bryant, and Jaeden Marshall who all got into double figures. Omaha led York 59-27 at halftime.
The second half saw Frankie Fidler get in on the scoring also in double figures. York tried their best to catch up on the Mavs and respectfully put up 41 points while Omaha had 45 points and got into triple digits. Towards the end of the game, UNO head coach Chris Crutchfield kept several starters on the court instead of benching them so Tony Osburn can keep shooting threes and break the school record which happened. Tony Osburn made nine three point baskets and finished the game with 32 points. The final score ended up being 109-68 Omaha and their next game will be against another NAIA school Bellevue University on Thursday with another kids day and a possible record attendance breaker. After that Omaha will head to Texas again to take on Texas Tach and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
