It was a record night for the Western Illinois women’s basketball team against D-III opponent MacMurray College on Nov. 12, 2018. The Leathernecks drained 28 3-pointers in a 136-39 win over the Highlanders as seven WIU student-athletes made three 3-pointers or more. WIU shattered the Summit League record for made 3-pointers by nine, which was held by Denver prior to the Leathernecks game against MacMurray College. WIU attempted 59 3-pointers and finished 8-of-19 beyond the arc in the opening quarter that helped them jump out to a 30-2 advantage. Freshman Mackenzie Rogers (pictured above) was the most successful from long range as she made 5-of-8 and finished with 19 points. In the fourth quarter, WIU made 70 percent (7-of-10) of its 3-point shots. They shot 47.5 percent from beyond the arc for the game.
