1. South Dakota (89 points) 4-4. The lone Yotes game this week was a gritty win over Wichita State in Vermillion. Behind a career-high 35 points from super-senior Hannah Sjerven, USD improved to 4-4 on the year. Last Week: 2
2. South Dakota State (80 points) 3-5. SDSU lost their lone game last week to Northern Iowa 50-59. The Jackrabbits were held to 22 percent shooting in the second half and fell to 0-4 in true road games this season. Last Week: 1
3. Western Illinois (68 points) 7-2. The Leathernecks had a great week, finishing 2-1. On Monday, they lost to Incarnate Word 59-63 despite 14 points from both Jada Thorpe and Danni Nichols. They finished the week strong with victories over Northern Illinois and Southern Illinois, as they won the Compass Challenge. Last Week 4
4. Kansas City (66 points) 7-1. After dropping their first game of the season against Southern Methodist, KC has won seven straight games by an average of 22.9 ppg. The voters nearly split the vote between the Roos and the Leathernecks for the three spot. This week, Coach Hoyt’s team secured two W’s over UT Arlington and Haskell Indian Nations. Last Week: 3
5. North Dakota State (54 points) 3-4. The Bison split their two games last week; losing to Kansas State 57-78 and beating Bradley 83-72. They have a massive test coming up on Thursday when they hit the road and visit #7/11 Arizona. Last Week: 5
6. Denver (35 points) 3-5. Denver also split their two games last week; losing to UC Santa Barbara 80-89 and beating Cal Poly 75-63. Denver is in the midst of 6 of 7 games being on the road, but are showing some impressive improvements along the way. They have a couple of big tests coming up this weekend when they travel to Butler and Purdue. Last week: 6
6. North Dakota (35 points) 4-4. Don’t look now, but the Fighting Hawks have won three games in a row, and four of the last five. Last week, UND went 3-0 with wins over Brown (65-46), Siena (71-63), and Minnesota Morris (97-55). They have a tough road test coming up on Saturday when they tip-off against Marquette. Last Week: 8
8. Oral Roberts (34 points) 2-5. ORU split their two games last week; beating Little Rock 74-56 to close out the ORU Thanksgiving Classic, and dropping a game against Wichita State 62-78. They fall one spot this week. Last week: 7
9. Omaha (21 points) 2-4. Omaha picked up a couple of nice wins last week against UIC (70-58) and Tennessee State (67-56). Elena Pilakouta scored a career-high 32 points in the win against UIC. Last week: 10
10. St. Thomas (11 points) 2-6. After dropping a game to Northern Iowa last Wednesday, St. Thomas picked up their second win of the season against Chicago State on Saturday, 62-57. Last week: 9
