This week’s winners come from a large group of nominees. There were a lot of great performances last week from the student-athletes; so, here are the fan’s picks!

 

SENIOR OF THE WEEK: NAOMIE ALNATAS, KANSAS CITY (@mimie_alnatas3)

Against Denver, Naomie went of for 22 points, her sixth 20-plus-point game this season. She also added eight rebounds, four assists, and a steal. Alnatas followed that performance with a 19 point performance to help spark a furious fourth quarter comeback win against NDSU. She added five rebounds and four assists as well. Finally, against UND, she scored nine points, had eight assists, and grabbed another five rebounds; she also recorded four steals. Naomie averaged 16.7 ppg, 6 rpg, and 5.3 apg last week.

JUNIOR OF THE WEEK:  UJU EZEUDU, DENVER (@ShineUju)

Uju is this week’s winner by ONE vote over UND’s Kacie Borowicz. In two games last week, Uju averaged 23 ppg, 12.5 rpg, 2 apg, 1.5 bpg, and 1.5 spg. Against Kansas City, Uju scored 18 points, ten of which came from the FT line. She added eight rebounds, two assists, and a steal. In a win over Omaha, Ezeudu had a monster double-double, going for 28 points and 17 rebounds! She shot 10-16 from the field and added three steals, three assists, one block and 14 fouls drawn to her stat line. Per Denver’s website, Uju is at 987 career points, 13 away from becoming the 28th student-athlete in program history to reach 1,000 career points.

SOPHOMORE OF THE WEEK: TORI NELSON, SOUTH DAKOTA STATE

Back-to-back player of the week wins for the Mendota Heights native! Against St. Thomas, Tori had five points and three defensive rebounds. Against Western Illinois, she scored 13 points and seven rebounds. She averaged 9 ppg and 5 rpg last week.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: PAIGE MEYER, SOUTH DAKOTA STATE (@paige_meyer2)

Paige Meyer had a great couple of games as she helped the Jackrabbits win a pair of home games last week. Against St. Thomas, she scored seven points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out four assists. In a win against the Leathernecks, Paige scored a team-high 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting. She also tallied three rebounds, six assists, and SIX steals in just 18 minutes of play! Paige averaged 13 ppg, 3 rpg, 5 apg, and 3.5 spg last week.
