Senior Of the Month
Oscar Cluff
South Dakota State
Cluff has gotten off to a fantastic start in his final season after transferring to Brookings. Obviously, Summit League media thought that Cluff could have an impact this year as he was a preseason all-conference selection but I think it is safe to say that so far Cluff has exceeded expectations. In November Cluff averaged a points and rebounds double-double. Cluff secures the award with averages of 18.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
Junior of the Month
Treyson Eaglestaff
North Dakota
Most thought this was going to be Eaglestaff’s team this season and it seems they were correct. It’s been fun to watch Eaglestaff’s steady growth over his career and now showing he is one of the most dynamic scorers in the Summit. November’s Junior of the Month averaged 18.4 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists for the month.
Sophomore of the Month
DeAndre Craig
Denver
One of the off-season questions for Denver was what players fill the leadership void left by Tommy Bruner’s departure. A common name mentioned was Craig. Craig has done a great job stepping up in just his second college basketball season. Craig also does a little bit of everything, evidenced by his November averages. For the month Craig averaged 11.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists.
Freshman of the Month
Joe Sayler
South Dakota State
Some way somehow South Dakota State gets talented players to wait a year to shine. Sayler redshirted his first season in Brookings waiting for an opportunity to shine knowing several guards were graduating at the end of last season. Sayler jumped right into being the Robin to Oscar Cluff’s Batman. The freshman sharpshooter jumped right into the starting lineup and scorer role from game one. In November Sayler averaged 13 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
Defensive
 Player of the Month
Cameron Fens
South Dakota
Fens addition as player of the month makes it 3 of the 5 spots earned by newcomers to the league. The Illinois Chicago transfer came to Vermillion with an opportunity for a bigger role. Coach Eric Peterson has been pushing since his first day on campus for a more consistent defensive team and Fens should help them get there. In November Fens averaged 1.3 blocks, .6 steals, and 2.4 offensive rebounds per game.
