There is a Summit League championship on the line this weekend for SDSU. There are also a lot of different spots the Jacks could end up in the seeding if the weekend doesn’t shake out the way they need it to! With the one through five (excluding the fourth) seed as a potential spot to land here are the different scenarios that could lead the Jackrabbits to rise, or fall in the standings.
For the one seed, the formula is pretty simple: win out and have NDSU and USD split. That gives the Jacks the best winning % and the right to face either Omaha or Denver in the first round of the tournament.
The two seed happens if SDSU sweeps and either of the other two teams get swept. This would still get the Jackrabbits out of playing on Sunday for their first round matchup.
The third seed is the floor for SDSU this weekend with a win on either Friday or Saturday. The Jacks own the tiebreaker over Oral Roberts when it comes to a tied winning % due to the Jacks having a 1-1 record vs USD and Oral having an 0-1 record vs them. Both teams split with NDSU so they won’t factor into the tiebreaker no matter what. SDSU gets the three seed with a split and the NDSU and USD games also splitting.
There is no possibility for SDSU to finish in the fourth seed due to the tie breakers and how things would shake out if they were to get swept.
The fifth seed is only possible with SDSU getting swept by UMKC. UMKC could potentially finish in the top three seeds with sweep and SDSU would fall to the five seed and would face the fourth seed in round one, which could be either UMKC, Oral Roberts or NDSU.
With all that being said, it is shaping up to be a fun weekend of summit league hoops and a lot could happen for the SDSU Jackrabbits!
