Check out our week 3 power rankings below to find out!        1. South Dakota State (59 points). After losses to…

RTS WBB Players of the Week (11/14-11/20)

Below are the Reaching the Summit Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for games played 11/14 – 11/20. Our voters selected a senior, junior, sophomore, and freshman student-athlete they thought deserved this weekly award. Enjoy!

SENIOR OF THE WEEK: Brooklyn McDavid, Kansas City (@anaya___)

What a week for the Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week! In the Roos 53-43 win over Wyoming, McDavid scored 19 points on 9-19 shooting. She also grabbed 11 rebounds to notch a solid double double, while playing a full 40 minutes. Against Grand Canyon, Brooklyn scored a team-high 29 points on 9-12 shooting, including 11-12 from the free-throw line. Week stats: 18-31 FG, 12-13 FT, 24 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2 spg, 2 apg.

ALSO RECEIVNG VOTES: Hannah Sjerven, South Dakota | Danni Nichols, Western Illinois

JUNIOR OF THE WEEK: Kacie Borowicz, North Dakota (@BorowiczKacie)

She only played in one of the two games for UND this week, but Borowicz made that performance count. In her first outing of the regular season, Kacie helped guide the Fighting Hawks past Montana State 89-85. The Roseau, MN native went 20-20 from the FT line (yes you read that correctly) and ended the game with 33 points. The 20 made free throws are a UND single-game record for most FTs made.

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: Uju Ezeudu, Denver | Natalie Bartle, Omaha

SOPHOMORE OF THE WEEK: Jada Thorpe, Western Illinois (@thorpe_jada)

There were a few good outings from the sophomores around the league this week, but the nod went to Jada Thorpe of Western Illinois. After a quiet game last Monday against Chicago State, the Leathernecks’ redshirt sophomore went off for a team-high 21 points on 54% shooting in 29 minutes of action against Bellarmine on Saturday. The Kansas State transfer also recorded six rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: Kennedy Flanagan, Western Illinois | Kate Burns, St. Thomas

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Jade Hill, St. Thomas (@4JadeHill)

Unfortunately, there was not a box score available for St. Thomas’ first D-1 victory against South Carolina St last Thursday night, so we have no stats on Jade Hill. That being said, the voters thought her performance against Presbyterian on Saturday was good enough for her to earn the Freshman of the Week honors. Hill scored a team-high 18 points, dished out two assists, and grabbed two defensive rebounds on Saturday. She shot 6-12 from the field, including 4-6 from the FT line.

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: Paige Meyer, South Dakota State

Turnovers Hurt UND as Women drop one to UTEP

Posted on November 14, 2021 By Garrett Bruce No Comments on Turnovers Hurt UND as Women drop one to UTEP

UND battled shorthanded but fell against Weber.  After returning home for a few days, they then hit the road again to head down south to Texas, to take on UTEP.  While UND was able to get a couple more players back, they still were without 3 of their starters.  A rough first quarter doomed UND…

New Faces for the South Dakota State Women Have Strong Debuts

The Jackrabbit women’s basketball team got off to an interesting start this season. The Jacks went  1-1 but they probably feel like they should be 2-0. SDSU beating a young Green Bay team (70-49)  handedly was a good sign, while losing to a Mississippi State team  (71-76) that they could have beat felt like a…

Short-handed UND women falls to Weber State In Season Opener

Last season was one of the more difficult seasons in UND women’s basketball history.  Close losses, injuries, and COVID all reared their ugly heads last season in a difficult 2-19 season.  So hope springs eternal as UND was looking to put the past behind them and start Year 2 of the Bernhard Era. I was…
