27 (days until the season starts): Number of Assists for Missouri State in 1987 Championship Game
In 1987, the Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State) men’s basketball program dished its way to a 90-87 AMCU/Summit League championship. The Bears finished with 27 assists en route to their first conference championship. Southwest Missouri State joined the league in 1982 and left eight seasons later but to this day, the Bears’ 27 assists against Cleveland State in 1987 is still the second-most assists in league history for a tournament game and championship game.
