Ann Marie Martin was a prolific scorer for the Youngstown State women’s basketball program between 1994-98. Martin was a key player for the Penguins in 1997-98 when they made it to the NCAA Tournament. She finished with 26 points against Memphis in YSU’s opening round contest, which ranks second in league history for most points in an NCAA Tournament game. The Penguins pulled off the upset (91-80) over the Tigers as a 12-seed but lost to fourth-seeded NC State 88-61 in the round of 32. Martin was inducted into the YSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008. She ranks fourth in school history in scoring (1,631) and eighth in rebounding (711). YSU was in the Mid-Continent/Summit League between 1992-2001.
